『御前崎プロ2023』4日目は男子クウォーターファイナル第3ヒートからスタート。波は先日から変わらずの東寄りサイドの風が吹く中もグラッシーコンディションとなり、サイズは0.5m～1mとプワーコンディションの中のスタートとなった。
この日のヒートスタートとなったクウォーターファイナル第3ヒートにはQSツアーベテランの新井洋人選手がクレジット。上手くストールし波とのタイミング合わせ1、2、3とリズムよくアクションを入れエンドセクションまでしっかり乗るスタイルは彼の代名詞と言える。同じくレフトの波を掴み際どいトップへのアクションを入れ5.25ptと6.25ptトータル11.50ptとなし明日ファイナルDAYに繋げた。
インタビューでは『メチャクチャ緊張して、長澤佑磨選手もアップカマーでエアーもすごく上手いし、今回もキレがありアグレッシブルに動いてくるスタイルなので警戒していたが、その中でも自分のやるべきことを明確に、若手に負けないように自分もアグレッシブルに動き、点数を重ね2本まとめていけたことが良かったと思います。ファイナルデーは優勝も見えてきたのでまだ次はセミファイナルもありますし、気温も暑いので体調を崩さないようにこの後しっかり休んで、波も凄くいいですし明日は上がってくるという予報なので、すごい楽しみに明日も頑張りたいと思いますので、応援よろしくお願いします。』と語った。
明日の最終日8月28日（月）は、ファーストコール午前8時となり、男女ともにセミファイナルからスタートです。
